The United States has reached its H-1B visa cap for 2023.

On Tuesday, the US announced that it had received enough applications to fill the 62,000 H-1B visa cap for fiscal year 2023.

The United States has received enough applications to meet the Congressionally mandated 65,000 H1-B visa cap for fiscal year 2023, according to the country’s federal immigration services agency on Tuesday.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US businesses to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical knowledge.

Every year, technology companies rely on it to hire thousands of employees from countries such as India and China.

The H-1B visa programme is the most in demand among foreign professionals, including Indians.

The 20,000 H-1B visa US advanced degree exemption, generally known as the master’s limit, and the 65,000 regular H-1B visa regular cap imposed by Congress have both been met, according according to a declaration from US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Non-selection notifications have been sent to registrants’ online accounts by USCIS.

“Not Selected: Not selected, not eligible to file an H-1B cap petition based on this registration,” it said of registrations that were properly submitted for the FY 2023 H-1B numerical allocations but were not selected.

Meanwhile, the federal agency has stated that it will continue to accept and process petitions that are otherwise exempt from the cap.

The FY 2023 H-1B cap is not applicable to petitions submitted for current H-1B employees who have previously been counted against the cap and still have their cap number, according to the statement.

However, the USCIS will continue to accept and process petitions to extend the amount of time a current H-1B worker may stay in the US, change the terms of employment for current H-1B workers, allow current H-1B workers to change employers, and allow current H-1B workers to work concurrently in additional H-1B positions, according to the announcement.
